Our Continued Support

A Message from Audrey Guth:

We hope that you and your family are safe during these extraordinary times. We would like to keep you informed of the Nanny Angel’s efforts to provide compassionate support to our families dealing with cancer.

First, as the COVID-19 outbreak prevails with no end in sight, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Angels and Heroes Gala until May 13, 2021.

The Nanny Angel Network (now Nankind) continues to be a source of support for so many newly diagnosed moms and those already suffering from cancer during this difficult time. We can’t imagine how stressful it is for moms with compromised immune systems who are worried about going to hospitals for treatment, or who have had life saving surgeries cancelled. Without school or programs to occupy their children, moms with cancer are struggling to manage day by day.

We have transitioned to virtual visits via zoom where our deeply committed volunteers continue their relationships with the children by engaging them in interactive play. This break gives moms time to rest and heal. The children are not only anxious and scared about their mom’s cancer, in addition, they have the added fear of coronavirus. Our volunteers give the kids a sense that not everything in the world has changed. They have also received special training to answer questions about COVID-19.

We have identified many moms who are too ill to cook, have no family support and cannot get to a grocery store. It is for these reasons that we are providing prepared meals, five nights a week for select high-risk families throughout the GTA and Kingston.

Your tremendous support is helping us make this incredibly stressful time just a little easier for these families.

The Angels and Heroes Gala is our major fundraising initiative each year. Since we are not holding this event, we have asked our sponsors to consider receiving a tax receipt for their sponsorship for 2020 so that we can continue this important work and hope that you will again support us in 2021. Alternatively, we will roll over the sponsorship to the 2021 Angels and Heroes Gala.

Thank you for trusting us with your philanthropy. Together we are making this world a better place for families facing cancer.

With tremendous gratitude,

Audrey Guth, Founder
