Charity helping support mothers with cancer needs volunteers in Durham

If you are good with children, have some free time to help a family in need, the Nanny Angel Network (NAN) needs your help.

The Nanny Angel Network is the is the only charitable organization in Canada that provides free in-home and virtual childcare support to mothers with cancer and their children.

Volunteers go through special training to be to able to support mothers and help their children navigate their mother’s cancer journey by giving them the tools to build resiliency.

The network says they urgently need volunteers in Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa and Courtice to support families living with cancer who are currently on a waiting list.

There are different volunteer opportunities.

After your training, your could be a Nanny Angel Volunteer, which means you would provide four hours of specialized childcare per week to the same family.

Another option is being a Homework Angel, which means you would provide two hours of weekly virtual one-on-one support through a video call.

You could also be an Activity Angel, which is part of their Fun-In-A-Box program, where a box is delivered each month to families and volunteers. Each box has everything needed to complete two activities per child and volunteer per week. You would video conference with the NAN family each week.
