Toronto, ON (September 27, 2023) – Nankind is thrilled to announce the return of its annual family event, Angels & Heroes Game Day Let’s Play, on Sunday October 1st, at the Rec Room Toronto and the final Blue Jays Game at the Rogers Centre. Aimed at offering a memorable experience for families facing cancer, over 350 attendees from three generations will come together for an unforgettable day. Nankind transforms the cancer experience for families with free support programs. Since 2009, the charitable organization has supported 2,000+ families, empowered 4,000+ children, provided 30,000+ hours of free childcare and delivered 60,000+ nutritious meals to families in need.
“Every year, countless families are confronted with trying to navigate the impact of cancer on their daily lives, and our free support programs exist to nurture resilience and remind these families that they are never alone,” says Audrey Guth, Nankind founder and two-time cancer survivor. “Angels & Heroes Game Day Let’s Play seeks to create a memorable day for our community by giving families facing cancer a day where they can come together, have fun and find strength in the power and unity of our community.”
Angels & Heroes Game Day Let’s Play, presented by Surplus Furniture & Mattress Warehouse, welcomes the Nankind community to come together and spend time with their families while exploring exciting games and virtual experiences at the Rec Room Toronto. The fun will continue at the Rogers Centre, where members will cheer on the Blue Jays during their final game of the season! Now in its third year, the event has become a beacon of hope for families affected by cancer, drawing families and friends while allowing supporters to see first-hand the impact they are helping to make.
“We are honoured to stand alongside Nankind and support their annual family event that we know will leave a lasting impression for all of the families who attend,” says Alf Tarzia, Founder & President of Surplus Furniture & Mattress Warehouse. “The programs and supportive network that this organization provides to families and their children who are experiencing cancer are crucial, and we could not be more grateful to be a part of the change they are helping to make.”

“Nankind played one of the biggest roles during my cancer journey. When I could not cook, they delivered delicious meals and would check in on me,” says Bipina, Nankind mom. “They also provided a volunteer to help my son understand what was happening, giving me time to rest and recover. People were there sometimes, but Nankind was there all the time.”
