For many of us, Mother’s Day is filled with flowers, hugs, and special memories. But for moms facing cancer, it’s often another day of pushing through fatigue, managing side effects, and worrying about their children’s well-being.
At Nankind, we believe every mom deserves one more moment of care, relief, and support. That’s why our programs are designed to wrap families in care during one of the hardest chapters of their lives.
Our free specialized childcare program offers moms facing cancer the chance to rest and attend to their health, knowing their children are cared for and equipped with the tools to cope.
Our Childcare program is flexible and personalized to the needs of the families we support.
Nankind offers both in-home and virtual childcare to support mothers affected by cancer. In-home, a compassionate Volunteer Angel engages children for four hours a week through fun activities that help them express emotions and understand their parent’s illness, giving moms time to rest and recover. Virtual programs include Fun-In-A-Box, delivering monthly activity kits designed by Child Life Specialists for creative emotional support, and Homework Club, where volunteers provide two hours of virtual mentorship each week to help children build confidence and ease the burden on parents during treatment
