When Leah, Sara, and Mia’s mom died of colon cancer, it was Mother’s Day.
Three young sisters woke up on a morning the world dedicated to mothers, and theirs was gone.
In the weeks that followed, life kept moving. With their dad holding everything together. And three little girls carrying more than most adults ever will.
This summer, we want to give them somewhere safe to connect and make new memories that will help them heal.
For children grieving a parent, bereavement camp is one of the most powerful things we can offer. A place where they don’t have to explain themselves, laugh without guilt, and meet kids who just get it.
Nankind partners with specialized camps built for exactly this experience and covers the full cost so every child can attend free.
Last summer, the impact spoke for itself. One child was the happiest they’d been in a long time. Another came home more confident and excited about the future for the first time since their parent’s diagnosis. A third family said each of their kids found something different, but all of them wanted to go back.
Leah, Sara, and Mia are on Nankind’s camp waitlist along with 21 other children across Ontario whose lives have been turned upside down by parental cancer. We want to send all 24 of them to camp this summer.
That is what we are raising money for.
On June 16th, we’re looking to raise $24,000 in 24 hours to help make that happen. Thanks to the generosity of Brampton Brick, every dollar donated will be matched up to $24,000. Your $50 becomes $100. Your $100 becomes $200.
Start donating now at nankind.com and help us send more kids to summer camp.
